Gerry Rawlings is a Big Ride legend - someone who touched so many lives with his cheerful outgoing personality and a willingness to help and support other riders and support the cause! He was an amazing ambassador to our organization. Pretty much everyone on Whidbey Island knew about Gerry and his rides with the American Lung Association.

Gerry took our mantra of telling everyone he knew about his participation with our events and that in turn translated to high fund raising accomplishments with our events:
2003 Big Ride Across America
2004 Big Ride Across America & Pacific Coast!!
2005 Trek Tri-Island (Team Captain with biggest team - he was proud of that accomplishment)
2006 Big Ride Pacific Coast
2007 Big Ride Glacier

In those five short years, Gerry raised more than $42,000 for our organization!! He lost family and friends to lung disease and was passionate in finding a cure and he would raise funds to help that goal.

In order to participate in a Big Ride, you must reach a minimum fundraising level, which varies depending on the event. But don’t worry; it’s not as difficult as you think — and we’ll help you out with lots of proven fundraising ideas, tips and support.

We handle all the details so that you can relax and enjoy the ride. We provide overnight accommodations, gear transportation, rest stops with refreshments, meals on riding days, mechanical support and friendly and experienced ride staff.
